I think there are about 400 tonnes of rock in the building. While it was sourced from many different localities, 95% is local. There is granite from Granite Rock, Bairnsdale; limestone from Buchan; jasper, iron ore, quartz from Nowa Nowa. But there is some rock from further afield - the Barossa Valley and Renmark in South Australia; Mt. Gambier; Gosford, north of Sydney and from the Veneto region of Italy.
Most of the work was done after my day job and on weekends. My father did much of the grouting and other tedious work. My brother Tony's passion is timber and he made all the curved window frames and door frames. Then there are family members and friends with skills that I don't have for example the ability to work with glass or steel.
