It is worth mentioning the double wall behind the ponds on the western side of the building.  Under the "cave" is the storm water/sewer easement. When the subdivision was done one of the pipes was laid about a meter and a half uphill of its planned alignment, and so the easement was moved 1.5m closer to my house. I had to put a retaining wall to comply with planning requirements, but at this new location I would have had no backyard. I decided to turn the problem into an asset by copying a small part of the extensive water features of Villa d'Este, Tivoli, Italy.
